Joshua, left, and Todd, right, are the two guys responsible for taking care of the bikes that will be available on the 24th for the Tour de Fat at the New Belgium Brewer. They seem to be some cool guys who test everything before others get on it.

Joshua rides a  tall bike made from a couple of NBB cruisers.

Todd rides an odd tall bike. You actually pedal backwards to propel the bike.

TOUR DE FAT SNEAK PREVIEW

This bike uses shoes for the tires. I am guessing this is a fast bike, as it currently has a lot of sneakers and running shoes on. With boots, it would probably be a good off road bike. Or you could just put a mix of boots and shoes for an all terrain machine!

With these two bikes, you sit on the seat with a ring of wheels around you. They each touch each other, so you have the wheels all spinning as you move. An interesting bike in terms of visual stimulations, I can’t imagine that it would be all that difficult to ride, not that I have done so. . . yet.

Now this is what I am talking about! I’m not sure what they call it, but this bike has two truck tires. The steering wheel is also from some vehicle. I wanted to try this out, but was unable to, as the steering wheel was about to come off. Lets hope that Joshua and Todd fix this before the Tour.

While riding home Tuesday on my tall bike, I was stunned to see someone else on a similar machine. But I spotted the truck and as the man (I later learned that Joshua was his name) road by the truck, I was afraid they were packing up and moving away. However, I did not need to worry, for the two men and the bikes I encountered were part of the New Belgium Brewery’s Tour de Fat, which takes place on September 24th. While there, I looked at a few bikes, tried a few out, and definitely enforced my decision to head out to the Tour on Saturday. There are many others not shown here, including a crazy chariot like bike that uses ropes to steer. Its something I might have to build one day, as it was very cool. Other bikes were street sweepers, and choppers. These and more will be at the Tour de Fat, so I hope to see lots of people there!
